Week #2 in Cajamarca

Well, week 2 here in Cajamarca:

Monday
We went to Llacanora with our district and some other missionaries. It was a short hike to some waterfalls and the top of a hill. It was super pretty but I was in my sandals, so that was interesting...on the bus ride back to Cajamarca, two little kids got on and they were eating chicken feet...

Wednesday
We had a good lesson with Carla, and had a lesson with a less-active and his wife. He seemed kind of excited about it but his wife didn't seem very interested. We'll see where that goes. When we got back to our room at night, there were ants everywhere! I had left out a drink from the morning, and the ants that come in through the door were all over the cup and my desk, so that was gross.

Friday
We had splits and I got to go with my great grandma, Hna Canizales (her trainer's trainer's trainer, I think). She's great but going home after this transfer. It was fun to speak English but we didn't have very many lessons. Their area has the market, and wow, that is an interesting place. People selling just about everything you could think of and the smell is just fantastic...also, we were going up this one street knocking on doors, and a funeral procession was making its way up the street. The pallbearers were carrying the casket, and behind them were a bunch of people and a mariachi band. Definitly something you don't see in the US.

Sunday
We had arranged to pick up Carla for church, but she texted early Sunday morning and said she couldn't go...chispas. But church was good and we had some good lessons. We picked up some new investigators who are pretty catholic, but hopefully we'll be able to teach them some more.

Peru is definitely very different from home, there are dogs everywhere, the showers are cold, and I've promised that I will never again complain about Utah drivers. I've only had two encounters with spiders so that's good, but a very large one fell out of my towel one morning... I'm starting to get used to things, and we've taught some good lessons. My Spanish is starting to improve too, but it's still hard to understand people. Something funny is that when members ask where I'm from and I say Utah, sometimes they respond with, o la fabrica, or the factory, like mormon factory. It's kinda funny. Anyway, I hope you all have a good week, love you all!!
